UAE Approves Project to Train 80,000 Employees in Agentic AI

The United Arab Emirates has taken another major step toward becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence after approving a nationwide project to train 80,000 federal employees in Agentic AI technologies. The initiative was announced during a UAE Cabinet meeting chaired by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and marks a key milestone in the country’s ambitious “UAE Government 4.0” transformation strategy.

According to reports, the UAE government aims to equip employees with advanced AI skills that will help ministries and federal entities integrate intelligent systems into daily operations. The project focuses specifically on Agentic AI – a more advanced form of artificial intelligence capable of independently planning, executing tasks, making decisions and improving workflows with minimal human intervention.

What is Agentic AI?

Agentic AI refers to autonomous AI systems designed to perform complex tasks without requiring continuous human instructions. Unlike traditional AI tools that mainly respond to commands, Agentic AI can analyze situations, decide actions and execute operations independently. These systems can work as “digital coworkers” across sectors such as healthcare, administration, customer service and business operations.

Experts believe this technology will revolutionize government services by reducing bureaucracy, increasing efficiency and enabling faster decision-making processes. The UAE government plans to use AI agents to streamline public services, automate approvals and improve citizen experiences.

UAE Government 4.0 Vision

The newly approved training project is part of the UAE’s larger Government 4.0 initiative, which aims to transform how public services are delivered. Sheikh Mohammed stated that the “journey of transformation toward UAE Government 4.0 has begun,” emphasizing the country’s commitment to building a smarter and faster government powered by AI.

The Cabinet also approved the first package of AI-powered government service systems that will support citizens, residents, businesses and investors. These systems are expected to use Agentic AI assistants to simplify processes and provide more proactive government services.

Earlier this year, the UAE announced plans to deploy Agentic AI across 50% of government services within the next two years. The latest training initiative supports this goal by ensuring employees have the knowledge and expertise to work alongside intelligent AI systems.

AI in Healthcare and Public Services

Alongside the workforce training initiative, the UAE Cabinet also approved a national AI policy for the healthcare sector. The policy focuses on developing a national medical system powered by artificial intelligence, expanding digital healthcare infrastructure and training medical professionals in AI technologies.

The move reflects the UAE’s broader strategy of integrating AI into essential sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation and finance. The government believes AI will play a central role in improving operational efficiency, enhancing service quality and supporting long-term economic growth.

UAE Strengthens Global AI Leadership

The UAE has consistently positioned itself as one of the world’s most AI-forward nations. In 2017, it became the first country to appoint a Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. Since then, the country has launched multiple national AI strategies and digital transformation programs aimed at creating an innovation-driven economy.

Recent initiatives include Dubai’s private-sector Agentic AI program, which focuses on helping businesses adopt autonomous AI systems and improve productivity. Dubai has also launched large-scale AI workforce training programs for government staff as part of its digital transformation goals.

Industry experts say the UAE’s aggressive AI adoption strategy could make it one of the first countries to fully integrate autonomous AI systems into government operations at scale. The country’s focus on AI infrastructure, workforce development and innovation is expected to strengthen its position as a global technology hub in the coming years.

Future of AI-Powered Governance

As governments worldwide explore artificial intelligence solutions, the UAE is emerging as a pioneer in AI-driven governance. By training tens of thousands of employees in Agentic AI, the country is preparing its workforce for a future where intelligent systems will support decision-making, automate services and enhance operational performance.

The initiative highlights the UAE’s long-term vision of combining human expertise with advanced AI technologies to create a more efficient, responsive and future-ready government. With AI rapidly reshaping industries across the globe, the UAE’s latest move could become a model for digital governments worldwide
