CSCEC Middle East Marks World Environment Day 2026 with Sustainability Drive at Al Shindagha Corridor Project
Dubai, UAE – June 2026 – Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible construction practices, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East (CSCEC-ME) celebrated World Environment Day 2026 at the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project (R1013/2F). The initiative transformed a busy construction site into a platform for environmental education, community engagement, and meaningful action.
More than 100 employees from seven nationalities, including Chinese, Pakistani, Indian, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Egyptian, and Ghanaian team members, participated in a day-long program focused on raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable construction practices.

Promoting Environmental Awareness in Construction
The World Environment Day activities began with an environmental awareness session designed to educate workers and staff about the importance of environmental protection, sustainable construction methods, and individual responsibility in reducing environmental impact on construction sites.
Participants actively engaged in discussions and learning activities before collectively taking an environmental pledge. The pledge reinforced a shared commitment to protecting the environment both within and beyond the project site.
To further strengthen the campaign, environmental signage activities were conducted across the project, ensuring that sustainability messages remained visible and accessible to the workforce.

Turning Environmental Commitment into Action
Following the awareness sessions, employees participated in a large-scale site cleanup campaign. Workers and staff collaborated to improve housekeeping standards and maintain cleanliness throughout the project area.
The cleanup effort extended beyond the project boundaries, resulting in the collection of approximately ten bags of waste. This practical initiative highlighted how employee engagement can produce visible environmental improvements and foster a stronger culture of sustainability.
As part of the day’s activities, team members also planted trees around the site office and launched a creative recycling initiative. Used plastic bottles were repurposed into desk planters, encouraging the workforce to adopt reuse and recycling practices in their daily routines.

Sustainable Construction Practices at Al Shindagha Corridor Project
The World Environment Day event reflected sustainability measures that are already embedded in the project’s day-to-day operations.
CSCEC-ME implements comprehensive waste management practices, including the segregation of metal, wood, and general waste streams, supported by dedicated recycling facilities throughout the site. Environmental awareness is continuously reinforced through regular toolbox talks and training sessions.
To reduce environmental impact, the project utilizes treated water for dust suppression, helping to conserve resources while maintaining air quality. Fuel efficiency initiatives and anti-idling policies for vehicles and equipment further contribute to lowering emissions and reducing energy consumption.
Given the project’s proximity to sensitive marine and coastal environments, robust spill prevention and control measures have been implemented to protect surrounding ecosystems and water resources.
In addition, comprehensive heat stress management programs help safeguard worker health while ensuring compliance with environmental and occupational safety standards.

Building a Greener Future Through Collective Action
CSCEC-ME’s World Environment Day 2026 celebration demonstrated that sustainability is most effective when awareness is paired with action. The event concluded not with speeches alone, but with measurable outcomes—including waste removed from the environment, trees planted, and a workforce empowered to make environmentally responsible choices.
Through initiatives such as these, CSCEC-ME continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable construction, environmental stewardship, and the development of infrastructure projects that contribute to a greener future for the UAE.
