Donald Trump ‘might’ do something he’s never done before in his campaigns
Former United States president Donald Trump has revealed his future plans after a court ruling extended his deadline to pay the bond in the New York civil fraud case.
Trump said Monday that he “might” spend his own money on his 2024 presidential campaign, which he hasn’t done during his campaigns since 2016, NBC News reported.
“I might do that,” Trump told reporters at his 40 Wall Street building in Lower Manhattan, before adding, “It’s none of your business.”
“I have a lot of cash and a great company,” Trump said. “I might spend a lot of money on my campaign.”
The 77-year-old Republican presidential candidate revealed that New York Judge Arthur F Engoron, who ruled that Trump would owe a $464 million judgment in the state’s civil fraud case, doesn’t want him to spend his cash on his campaign.
“They don’t want me taking cash out,” said Trump, while seemingly referring to both Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump made these comments after leaving Manhattan court for a hearing in his New York criminal case where Judge Juan Merchan ruled that the trial would begin April 15.
Additionally, a state appeals court gave Trump and his co-defendants 10 days to post a $175 million bond after it was cut down from the original $464million judgment due Monday.
Last week, in a post on his Truth Social website, Trump claimed to have nearly $500 million in cash for his 2024 presidential campaign, but has not invested his own money into his presidential campaigns since 2016, except for a $10 million donation made before his election.
Instead he relies on small-dollar online donations to power his political efforts.
