GDRFA Dubai Strengthens Digital Engagement with Workers in Celebration of International Workers’ Day
Dubai – May 3, 2026:
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai successfully organized a large-scale Virtual International Workers’ Day event using the “Blue Connect” application. The event was broadcast live from its headquarters and reached thousands of workers across Dubai.
This initiative shows Dubai’s strong commitment to improving workers’ lives and using modern digital solutions to connect with them.

Over 41,000 Workers Participated

The event saw the participation of 41,272 workers. Out of these, 5,272 workers joined online through the Blue Connect app, while the rest attended through live screenings at different locations.
The event combined both physical presence and digital interaction, making it more inclusive and accessible for workers across the emirate.
Live Broadcast Across Labour Accommodations
The program was streamed live across 34 labour accommodations in Al Quoz and Jebel Ali, where more than 36,000 workers gathered to watch and participate.
Special field visits were also organized to honor workers and recognize their important role in Dubai’s development.

Exciting Prizes and Activities
The event included fun activities such as:
- Competitions
- Raffles
- Interactive sessions
More than 100 prizes were distributed, including smartphones and grand rewards. The event was supported by Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) along with other partners.
Emotional Messages from Families
One of the most touching parts of the event was the video messages from workers’ families. These messages expressed love, appreciation, and support, highlighting the strong emotional connection between workers and their families.
Leaders Highlight Worker Importance

Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor stated that Dubai continues to follow a human-centered approach, where people are the top priority. He also emphasized the importance of digital innovation in improving workers’ quality of life.

Colonel Omar Matar Al Mazina added that combining digital platforms with on-ground activities helps reach more workers and makes them feel valued. He said such initiatives strengthen a positive work environment based on respect and teamwork.
