MOU Signed for Cooperation in Women’s Peace Education… Promoting Peace Awareness Based on Civil Society
Agreement Signed During CSW70 in New York
The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Director Seoyeon Lee) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Egyptian development NGO “Supportive Homeland Association for Development (SHAD)” on the 13th.
The signing ceremony was held at Conference Room E of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, during the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).
About Supportive Homeland Association for Development (SHAD)
Organizational Background and Mission
SHAD is a Cairo-based Egyptian NGO established in 2015. It focuses on:
- Education
- Social development
- Women’s empowerment
- Poverty reduction
Community Work and International Collaboration
The organization operates across seven governorates in Egypt with around 900 volunteers. Its key activities include:
- Community-based development projects
- Educational programs promoting women’s rights
- Civic engagement initiatives
SHAD also contributes to international cooperation through participation in the Anna Lindh Foundation network, supporting cultural exchange and civil society collaboration across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Purpose of the MOU
Expanding Peace Awareness and Cooperation
This agreement aims to combine IWPG’s peace education programs with SHAD’s local network to:
- Expand peace awareness within communities
- Strengthen civil society-based cooperation
- Promote sustainable peace initiatives
