ZHO, UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation join forces to empower People of Determination
ABU DHABI, 22nd February, 2024 (WAM) — The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation, marking a significant step towards fostering joint efforts and establishing a strategic partnership to bolster the development of modern pentathlon among People of Determination.
The collaboration entails integrating modern pentathlon into competitions hosted by sports clubs affiliated with the ZHO, enrolling determined athletes in the federation, encouraging their participation, and facilitating access to facilities and sports equipment for organizing local tournaments and national team camps dedicated to modern pentathlon for People of Determination.
The MoU was signed at the Al Ain Club for People of Determination by Abdullah Al-Hamidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, and Dr. Huda Abdul Rahman Al Matroushi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation.
Commenting on the signing, the Secretary-General of ZHO commended the federation’s endeavours to secure sporting achievements for the UAE regionally and internationally.
He added, “People of determination are part of our unified society, and we always aim to integrate them through programs and events executed by the organisation, particularly in sports, with active participation from governmental and private entities within the framework of social cooperation, achieving the integration goal that the organisation strives to accomplish.”
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation Dr. Al Matroushi underscored that the collaboration with ZHO advances a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing modern pentathlon for People of Determination.
Dr. Al Matroushi added, “The federation is keen to provide full support in modern pentathlon sports. One of our main goals is to form and prepare national teams for all age groups of people of determination and provide all the success factors contributing to raising the country’s flag in regional, continental, and international forums.”
In conjunction with the signing ceremony, the Al Ain Club for People of Determination, affiliated with ZHO, organised the “Laser Run for People of Determination” championship. The competition featured both male and female determined athletes engaging in running and laser pistol shooting, integral components of modern pentathlon competitions.
