Ranbir Kapoor reveals inspiration behind ‘Animal’ role

Ranbir Kapoor shared that his character for upcoming film Animal was inspired by late father Rishi Kapoor.

The 40-year-old actor donned a merciless gangster’s role for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming direction and revealed how the late actor served as a reference for the male lead’s fierce aura.

At the launch event of the movie’s trailer in New Delhi, Ranbir said: “Whenever I’d meet Sandeep, I always told him to give me a reference. I have never heard or felt like this.”

The Barfi actor added that, subconsciously, he kept thinking of his father, “It was the way he used to speak – he was a very passionate and aggressive man.”

The 3-minute trailer shows Ranbir being obsessively loving towards his father who raised him to be a violent human being which contributes largely to his intense nature.

Animal, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol, is scheduled to hit theaters on December 1 and will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
