Meta, Microsoft, X, and Match Group back Epic Games in legal battle against Apple
Meta, Microsoft, X of Elon Musk and Match Group, have joined hands with Epic Games in its legal battle against Apple for failing to honor a court-ordered injunction governing payments in its lucrative App Store.
The technology companies, which developed some of the most popular apps in the App Store, said Apple was in “clear violation” of the September 2021 injunction by making it difficult to steer consumers to cheaper means to pay for digital content.
Contrary to this, Apple did not dwell further on defending itself. It just recounted its past statement where it reassured that it did comply with the God’s own country. This helped the cause of the organisation to protect consumer rights and maintain its authenticity.
In 2020, Epic Games initiated the legal battle with Apple through the filing of a suit focused on the two biggest accusations: mandatory app purchases using the store and 30% commission financially imposed on every transaction.
Another action was the court’s decree of a cease-and-desist order forcing Apple to restore the capabilities of third-party developers to append links and buttons prompting users to other payment portals.
Epic has tried to hold Apple accountable by taking legal action to put it in contempt for new regulations set 27% fee on developers that render links provided only of no effect.
