GPSSA participates in 22nd GCC civil retirement and social security meeting
ABU DHABI, 6th November, 2023 (WAM) — The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) is participating today in the 22nd annual meeting of heads of civil retirement and social security authorities. The delegation, led by Faras Al Ramahi, GPSSA’s Director-General, is accompanied by several high-ranking officials.
The two-day meeting in Muscat, Oman, will focus on a comprehensive review of the technical committee’s findings for civil retirement authorities across the GCC region during the first three quarters of 2023. The discussions will encompass developing collection mechanisms geared towards optimizing the process of contribution fund disbursement.
The meeting’s agenda also includes deliberations on the statistical indicators related to the extension of the protection system, the outcomes of a comparative study examining pension systems in GCC countries based on these indicators, and an assessment of the results of the unified media campaign for the year 2023.
Furthermore, the meeting attendees will discuss the results of the training and qualification initiative for 2023, in addition to outlining the training plan for the year 2024. An analysis will be conducted to assess the current state and challenges surrounding pension systems in GCC countries, drawing upon a working paper prepared by the international communication work team.
Additionally, the participants will review the most recent developments regarding establishing a unified electronic platform for pensions. Efforts are being made to electronically link civil retirement systems across the GCC region to enhance the working mechanisms of the unified insurance protection system.
The meeting will highlight areas of collaboration with the International Social Security Association (ISSA) in the context of participating in international events and conferences. This includes the unification of international visions and positions. The discussion will extend to the latest updates concerning the launch of the Scientific Research Award, along with the most significant recommendations embraced within this framework.
