EUAE’s ERRA signs twin global IP deals with Australia and New Zealand
Sharjah: The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) has strengthened the UAE’s global leadership in intellectual property protection by signing two landmark agreements with copyright agencies in Australia and New Zealand. The deals were concluded on the sidelines of the IFRRO World Congress held recently in Singapore.
The bilateral agreements — inked with the Copyright Licensing New Zealand (CLNZ) and Copyright Agency (CA) in Australia — mark a significant expansion of ERRA’s international partnerships, paving the way for greater cooperation, expertise exchange, and enhanced protection of reprographic rights for Emirati and Arab creative works abroad.
According to ERRA, the move supports the UAE’s ongoing efforts to promote a secure and sustainable creative ecosystem, while ensuring authors, publishers, and educational institutions benefit from global market access and protection of their intellectual and moral rights in digital and academic contexts.
Majd Al Shehhi, Director of ERRA, described the agreements as a “strategic milestone” in broadening the scope of copyright protection beyond national borders.
“The signing of these two agreements reflects our dedication to empowering Emirati and Arab creators to access international markets safely and secure their intellectual rights in evolving digital and educational environments,” Al Shehhi said. “Building a strong network of international partnerships is key to a more sustainable and equitable creative ecosystem.”
Al Shehhi added that ERRA’s approach aligns with its vision of becoming a regional leader in intellectual property rights management, by offering legal licences that promote knowledge sharing in a fair and transparent manner. She noted that these partnerships stem from the Association’s commitment to international cooperation and adherence to global best practices through its membership in the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Dr Mohammed Mahmoud Al Kamali, Member of ERRA’s Board of Directors, said the agreements represent a “significant milestone” in the Association’s ongoing journey and underscore the confidence placed in the UAE’s leadership in protecting authors’ rights.
“International cooperation in reprographic rights management is essential to integrate legal systems and exchange expertise globally to safeguard the rights of authors and publishers,” Dr Al Kamali stated.
He reaffirmed that ERRA will continue to expand its network of global partnerships to advance the UAE’s creative economy and position intellectual property protection as a foundation for sustainable cultural growth.
The Association’s active participation in the IFRRO World Congress forms part of its mission to reinforce the UAE’s status as a regional and global hub for creativity, innovation, and knowledge-based development.
