Dubai Unveils World’s Tallest Metro Station, Elevating Global Transit Innovation
Dubai, UAE — January 15, 2026 — Dubai is once again pushing the boundaries of urban infrastructure with the announcement of what will become the world’s tallest metro station as part of the new Dubai Metro Blue Line. The station — officially named Emaar Properties Station — is set to rise to a striking 74 metres, eclipsing existing metro station heights around the globe.

Unveiled recently through a scale model showcased at the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) 2026, the station forms a landmark piece of Dubai’s expanding transit network and underscores the emirate’s ambitious vision for integrated transport and architectural excellence.
A Gateway to the Future
The Emaar Properties Station, developed in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai and with naming rights secured by Emaar Properties for 10 years, will stand as a gateway to key urban hubs. Located in Dubai Creek Harbour, the station will connect major districts including Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, and Dubai International City — while also providing seamless access to Downtown Dubai, DIFC, and Dubai International Airport.
Designed by the renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) — the same practice behind iconic structures such as the Burj Khalifa — the station’s bold visual language is inspired by a “crossing gateway” concept. Its expansive interior will feature limestone finishes, bronze-toned metal panels and granite flooring, creating a modern yet timeless aesthetic.
Transforming the Commuter Experience
Beyond breaking a height record, the station has been planned as a next-generation public transit space. Covering an area of approximately 11,000 square metres, it is engineered to handle up to 160,000 passengers daily, making it one of the busiest nodes in the Metro network once operational.
The station will welcome commuters with light-filled interiors — thanks to strategically placed glass panels — and spacious circulation areas. Passenger comfort and accessibility are key priorities, with elevators, escalators and dedicated areas for buses, taxis and bicycle stands to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity.
Blue Line Metro Station: A Major Transit Expansion
The Blue Line itself marks a significant expansion of Dubai’s public transport system, spanning roughly 30 kilometres with 14 new stations. It will integrate with the existing Red and Green lines, offering new mobility options across residential, commercial, and industrial zones.
The project’s phased construction began in 2025 and is scheduled for completion by 2029, in line with Dubai’s broader 2040 Urban Master Plan to support sustainable urban growth and improved connectivity across the emirate.
A Symbol of Progress
Officials and planners describe the Emaar Properties Station as more than just a transit hub — positioning it as a cultural and architectural landmark that reflects Dubai’s reputation as a global pioneer in urban design and mobility infrastructure.
As Dubai continues to evolve into a future-ready metropolis, the Blue Line and its towering centerpiece are set to boost public transit utilization, enhance walkability and strengthen economic vitality across the city.
