Dubai Welcomes Over 620,000 Passengers During Eid Al Adha Holidays

Dubai: Dubai witnessed a surge in passenger traffic during the four-day Eid Al Adha holidays, with over 620,000 travellers arriving and departing between June 5 and June 8, according to figures released by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) on Wednesday.

Dubai International Airport accounted for the vast majority of this movement, handling an impressive 581,527 passengers. Meanwhile, 46,863 travellers crossed the Hatta border post, and 1,169 passengers used Dubai’s maritime ports during the same period. The total number of incoming and outgoing passengers reached 629,559.

“This figure reflects the vibrancy that Dubai enjoys as a global hub for transit and residence,” the GDRFA said in an official statement.

Major General Talal Al-Shanqeeti, Assistant Director General of the Airports Sector at GDRFA, highlighted the role of advanced technologies in improving the passenger experience.

“We have made it a priority to ensure a seamless travel experience through smart gates and artificial intelligence technologies, which have contributed to speeding up procedures and improving the flow of movement,” he said.

He added that Dubai’s focus on enhancing travel aligns with the government’s broader vision of delivering high-quality, flexible services that meet the expectations of residents and visitors alike.

The figures underscore Dubai’s continued status as a key international travel hub and reflect the emirate’s preparedness to accommodate increased movement during peak holiday periods.
