David Warner Set for Second Season with Dubai Capitals in DP World ILT20
Dubai, UAE – Australian cricket star David Warner is gearing up for his second season with the Dubai Capitals in the DP World International League T20. Following the team’s runner-up finish in the previous edition, Warner aims to play a pivotal role in their quest for success in the 2025 season.
Reflecting on the tournament’s structure, Warner highlighted its competitive nature and the valuable opportunities it offers local talent. “I enjoyed the competition. It was challenging from an opening batter’s perspective and good for the bowlers. The way we fought back towards the end of the tournament was fantastic,” Warner remarked.
The DP World ILT20’s unique squad composition, allowing each team to field up to nine international players along with a minimum of two UAE players, has been praised by Warner. He emphasized the importance of this blend in enhancing the competition and providing exposure for local players.
Warner also lauded UAE cricketer Haider Ali for his contributions to the Dubai Capitals’ campaign last year. “Haider Ali stood out for us. He seized the moment and showcased his talent. He was a big, integral part of our team,” Warner said.
Expressing his fondness for the Dubai International Stadium, Warner highlighted the electrifying atmosphere and fantastic aesthetics of the venue. He also recalled Australia’s successful World Cup campaign in 2021 in the UAE as one of his fondest memories.
Warner appreciated the wicket dynamics and ground dimensions in Dubai, noting, “The wicket can be challenging at first, but once you get through the initial phase, you can play more freely. The boundary dimensions are perfect for a batsman.”
Addressing fans of the Capitals and DP World ILT20, Warner encouraged support for the teams. “I encourage everyone to come out and support the teams. It’s a big spectacle, so please go out, purchase some tickets, and enjoy some entertaining cricket,” he expressed.
Looking ahead to the next phase of his career, Warner emphasized his commitment to giving back to the game and supporting young cricketers. “This game has given me everything, and it’s upon myself to give the game back because it owes me nothing. My main focus is to keep generating cricketers to come up through the ranks and continue evolving as a leader,” he stated.
Warner concluded by highlighting the importance of staying fit and keeping up with younger players, regardless of age.
