Asia Cup 2025 to Be Held in UAE from September 9–28, Confirms ACC President
Dubai, UAE – The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially announced that the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the Twenty20 (T20) format from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The decision was confirmed by ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, who also chairs the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), following a recent meeting in Dhaka.
Tournament Relocated Due to India-Pakistan Tensions
Originally slated to be hosted by India, the tournament has been moved to the UAE due to ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. Matches are expected to be held across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, with the full schedule to be released soon.
Naqvi took to social media platform X to announce the news, stating: “I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! #CricketWins”
Eight Teams to Compete in High-Stakes T20 Format
The tournament will feature eight teams:
- India (defending champions)
- Pakistan
- Sri Lanka
- Bangladesh
- Afghanistan
- UAE
- Oman
- Hong Kong
The competition is expected to follow a structure similar to previous editions, potentially grouping India and Pakistan together, setting the stage for multiple high-voltage clashes—possibly in the group stage, Super Fours, and even the final.
Crucial Build-Up to 2026 T20 World Cup
The 2025 Asia Cup will serve as a key preparation event for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. With the tournament returning to the T20 format after the 2023 50-over edition, teams will use it to fine-tune their squads ahead of the global event.
India, who won the 2023 Asia Cup in a thrilling final against Sri Lanka in Colombo, will aim to defend their title in what promises to be a fiercely contested tournament.
Fans Await Fiery Rivalries and High-Octane Cricket
Cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly anticipating another chapter in the India-Pakistan rivalry, while emerging teams like Afghanistan and Nepal will look to make their mark. The UAE’s world-class stadiums and vibrant cricket culture are expected to deliver a memorable spectacle.
