Meet to a Shining Star Nisha Sultan

I am Nisha Sultan daughter of Sultan Ullah baig (Late). I belong to Golodass district Ghizer Gilgit Baltistan. I did my early studies from Ghizer after completing my intermediate in 2018, I moved to Karachi to pursue further studies in 2019 and started doing bachelors in Psychology. I was a sports enthusiast since initial days of my schools and took part in many sports event at school and college level that include volleyball, throwball. After moving to Karachi along with graduation I started developing interest in netball and start practicing at Pakistan sports board Karachi with Sindh team in 2019.

Later in 2019 I was selected to represent Sindh Women Netball team at National level, for the first time I played National Netball championship in 2019 ended up winning silver medal. A trial for selection of under 16 Girls Netball coach to represent Pakistan in Nepal was conducted in 2019, I took part among other coaches and was selected as under 16 Girls Coach to represent Pakistan at international level and toured Nepal with under 16 Netball girls team in September 2019.

After that I was selected for a course of coaching in Singapore. My eager to represent Pakistan at international level pushed me to explore further opportunities and in 2020 I gave trial for WAPDA women’s Netball team, by the Grace of Almighty Allah I was selected for the training camp of WAPDA Netball team and got selected in top 12 to represent WAPDA at National level.

I ended up winning gold medal in Netball  championship that year. Since then I have been part of WAPDA women’s National Netball team among top 7 and represented at national championship in 2021 and 2022 winning best goal shooter(GS) of the tournament and gold medal respectively.

My urge to represent Pakistan internationally happened this year, a trial conducted by pakistan netball federation for Pakistan junior netball team to represent Pakistan at Singapore was conducted this year at Pakistan Sports Board Karachi. Players from different provinces were trialed, I was selected among top 10 players. Getting selected was a big achievement but by the grace of Almighty Allah I was given chance to lead team Pakistan as Captain of under Junior girls team at Singapore series. Tour was consist of 3 matches, Alhamdulilah we were able to win the series (2-1). I am part of WAPDA women’s Netball team currently and pursuing my masters from karachi university in physical education. I am coaching as netball coach at city school Karachi for past one year.

Struggle has been part of my journey since demise of my father in 2015. After managing doing my intermediate it was a challenge for me to pursue my further studies but with the grace of Almighty Allah and through shear hard work I managed to continue my studies along with playing netball and doing job to bear my own financial requirements.

My family has been my biggest support in pursuing my career as Netball player they have always pushed me to achieve all heights. I am grateful to my family who always feel immense proud in me as Netball player they have been my biggest strength to go out being a village girl and achieve my dreams in sports field.My future endeavours include representing Pakistan on different international level and to promote nationally specially in my region Gilgit Baltistan to aspire girls from my region to take part in such activities along with their studies and other future endeavours.
