SEC issues decision regulating exemption from traffic fines
SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired a meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s office today to discuss various government issues across different sectors. The council explored ways to improve government services and enhance the emirate’s achievements through development projects and initiatives.
During the meeting, a decision was made to regulate the percentage of exemption granted to traffic violators in the Emirate of Sharjah. The objective of this decision is to establish a mechanism that can help regulate the use of services for deducting amounts from traffic fines and early payments, as well as promote compliance with traffic laws. The decision will be implemented from April 1, 2023.
As per the decision, traffic violators who pay their fines within 60 days from the date of violation will receive a 35 percent discount on their fines, including financial fines, vehicle impound fees, and all delay fines. If the violators pay after 60 days but before one year from the date of the violation, the discount will be reduced to 25 percent, and the exemption will only cover the financial fine. However, if the violators pay after one year from the date of the traffic violation, they must pay the financial fine, impound fee, and delay fine in full. It is important to note that serious traffic violations are not included in this exemption.
Additionally, the SEC approved the first batch of beneficiaries of residential and investment lands for the year 2023, in implementation of the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. A total of 1,500 beneficiaries, comprising 765 residential plots and 735 commercial and industrial investment plots, were distributed in cities and regions of the emirate to beneficiaries who meet the conditions.
The council also discussed plans to expand the Sharjah Healthy City Programme project, which aims to implement the standards of the Global Healthy Cities Programme, achieve sustainable development goals related to health and environmental systems, and enhance partnerships with government institutions and health authorities to improve the quality of services.
