Customized peace education for Lebanon to be promoted… Expected to expand a culture of peace based on women’s leadership

DUBAI 04-02-2026:The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Director Seoyeon Lee) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in peace education with the Lebanese humanitarian organization “Himaya Daeem Aataa Association (HDA)” on the 12th.

The signing ceremony took place at the East Lounge of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, during the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).

About Himaya Daeem Aataa Association (HDA)

Humanitarian Efforts and Focus Areas

HDA is a Lebanese humanitarian NGO established in 2000 and based in Zgharta in northern Lebanon. The organization focuses on:

  • Protecting women’s rights
  • Addressing gender-based violence (GBV)
  • Supporting vulnerable populations

Through partnerships with organizations such as UNICEF and the European Union (EU), HDA has:

Under this agreement both organizations will collaborate in the following areas:

  • Implementing tailored peace education programs in Lebanon
  • Conducting capacity-building programs for women and children
  • Proposing peace-related policies to the international community

“This agreement was concluded to advance practical peace education in Lebanon where communities are facing difficulties due to conflict and social tensions. In cooperation with HDA we will actively support Lebanese women in becoming leaders who spread peace within their families and communities.”

IWPG Global Region 2 plans to use this agreement to:

  • Strengthen local peace education programs
  • Conduct joint workshops in Lebanon
